About Cafe Momentum
Café Momentum is a nonprofit restaurant and professional training facility in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia. The program offers a 12-month paid post-release internship for young men and women coming out of juvenile detention. These Interns rotate through all aspects of the restaurant while focusing on the development of social and life skills with a comprehensive case management team. Our team works to transform young lives by equipping our community’s most at-risk youth with life skills, education and employment opportunities to help them reach their full potential.
Position Summary
Case Managers assess, plan, implement, monitor and evaluate actions required to meet intern’s health and human service needs. As a part of the Programs Team, this person works closely with the Restaurant General Manager, Director of Programs, Restaurant Program Manager, and other case managers to support restaurant and catering operations, ensuring interns are properly trained for service. Case Managers report to the Director of Programs. They work collaboratively with other team members within the restaurant to ensure the needs of the interns are met by taking a holistic approach. Case Managers also are responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships with community organizations that provide services and support for interns.
Specific Duties
- Admits new interns during orientation by reviewing records and assisting with application to internship program;
- Provides comprehensive case management services by assessing intern needs, developing a treatment plan, coordinating services and referring when needed;
- Conducts initial and ongoing home visits, as needed;
- Manages caseload by verifying interns' attendance, observing and evaluating interventions and responses, advocating for needed services and entitlements, obtaining additional resources and intervening in crises;
- Collects and maintains performance data in Apricot (or approved) database for retaining and extraction of intern data for use in grant writing, community partner presentations, foundations and private donors etc.
- Communicates interns’ progress by conducting weekly-monthly meetings and evaluations, disseminating results and obstacles to Intern Service Team;
- Prepares interns for final phase by reviewing and amplifying graduation/externship plans and referring to community partners for ongoing care
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional organizations;
- Enhances departmental and organizational reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments;
- Supports outreach and recruitment efforts by participating in events that may require weekend and evening shifts;
- Keeps daily activity log for discussion and reviews with supervisor at weekly 1:1 supervision meeting
- Participates during Family Meal by assisting Restaurant Program Manager with behavior modification and/or redirection, engaging with interns during the learning period and at meal time;
- Participates in enrichment/learning activities with interns by providing chaperone/transport assistance (weekdays, weekends and after hours); and
- Complete any additional tasks as needed.
Education, Experience and Training
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Behavioral Science, Criminology, Counseling, Law, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Business Administration, or in a job-related field of study with 2-5 (two to five) years of work-related experience;
- Licensed Social Worker Preferred
Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- This position requires working with interns/juveniles who may have committed dangerous/aggressive acts; applicant should possess a high tolerance for working in a possibly emotionally demanding/stressful work environment;
- Working knowledge of community resources and the unique needs of the youth affected by the criminal justice system;
- Flexible and a team player;
- Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written formats;
- Ability to establish working relationships with community partners;
- Dependable transportation, current driver’s license and auto liability insurance;
- Must complete background check screening; and
- NOT a Remote Position
Compensation
- Full time approx. 40 hours weekly
- Some weekends and nights required
- Salary: Commensurate with Experience

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
