The Ceramics Lab Coordinator is responsible to the Assistant Dean for Visual and Performing Arts, Education, and Sciences. This position supports the ceramics area, and its promotions of area events, assists instructors in the ceramics area, and maintains equipment to provide quality instruction to ensure a safe working environment.
Assist in the maintenance and repair of studio equipment, working with vendors to order parts
Track inventory and assist in ordering and storage of supplies and enter requisitions.
Maintain lab in a clean and safe manner.
Input ceramics materials into MSDS system and label materials.
Facilitate and oversee kiln firings.
Oversee open studio hours for students.
Coordinate work study duties.
Assist in the production of clay and glaze material.
Create a digital archive of artist’s images.
Coordinate visiting artist activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Art required, with an emphasis in Ceramics preferred.
Two years’ experience in a lab environment or working ceramics facility.
Ability to work independently and follow directions.
Good communication skills and attention to detail.
Ability to lift 35 pounds independently. Please attach the following documents when applying:
