Overview
We are seeking a talented and passionate Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and management, with a flair for creativity and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences. As a Chef, you will play a crucial role in menu planning, food production, and maintaining high standards of food safety and quality. This is a commissary kitchen which prepares food for multiple locations and the chef will be expected to coordinate with team members from across the company.
Responsibilities
- Work with the executive chef on menu items, specials and seasonal foods.
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficient food preparation and presentation.
- Manage inventory control and food management processes to minimize waste and optimize resources.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper food handling practices.
- Supervise kitchen staff, providing training and support to enhance their skills and performance.
- Coordinate catering services for events, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality meals.
- Collaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure seamless service and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, adhering to sanitation standards.
- Keep food costs and labor in line with budgets.
- Maintain documents used for preparation, order and inventory and recipes
Skills
- Proficient in food handling techniques and safety protocols.
- Strong shift management abilities to oversee kitchen operations during busy periods.
- Experience in food service management, including staff supervision and training.
- Knowledge of inventory management practices to effectively control stock levels.
- Expertise in food production methods, ensuring consistency in quality and presentation.
- Ability to cater for various events while maintaining high standards of service.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and guests.
- Excel or Google Sheets, Word or equivalent.
- Menu and recipe costing.
