About the Role

As a Clinical Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering competent, compassionate, and patient-centered care under the direction of licensed medical personnel. You will assist in maintaining clinical operations, supporting administrative tasks, and upholding the values of the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model.

You will also have opportunities to support outreach events, assist with quality improvement initiatives, and collaborate with a tight-knit care team working toward a healthier community.

  • Completion of health-related training (e.g., CNA, MA, phlebotomy) is a plus.

Language Skills:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish or other languages commonly spoken by patient population) preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform standing orders (e.g., phlebotomy, injections, CLIA-waived tests) per training and certification.

  • Assist with medical procedures and follow provider instructions within your scope of practice.

  • Maintain clean and well-stocked exam rooms, bathrooms, and lab areas.

  • Prepare and sterilize instruments; manage biohazard and sharps disposal per protocol.

  • Support vaccine administration and patient education following clinic guidelines.

Workflow & Operations

  • Participate in daily team huddles, pre-visit planning, and post-visit follow-up care.

  • Monitor patient flow and communicate delays when necessary.

  • Participate in clinic quality initiatives and serve as a role model for PCMH practices.

  • Assist with lab orders, quality control checks, and proper documentation of lab results.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Accurately document patient data and direct care interactions in the EMR.

  • Process faxes, scanned records, and mail correspondence with attention to detail.

  • Protect EHR and patient data according to HIPAA and organizational policy.

  • Complete all required documentation to meet legal and grant-related standards.

Team Engagement & Outreach

  • Train and mentor new staff as needed.
