Job Summary
The associate degree nursing clinical nursing instructor's primary role is to educate and mentor
nursing students in a clinical setting, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical
application.
Nature of Work
Provide safe, clinical education to no more than 10 associate degree-seeking nursing students in a
variety of healthcare settings as they progress through three semesters of course work.
Distinguishing Characteristics
Performs other functions as required or assigned. Also complies with all Policies and Standards.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Maintains credentials, licensure, and certifications required for teaching nursing to licensed
- Instructs clinical, skills labs, and simulation courses for the associate degree nursing
- Delivers clinical instruction according to the current course content outline and approved
- Provides students with opportunities to acquire knowledge and practice skills identified in
- Prepares for clinical, skills labs, or simulation by selecting appropriate learning experiences
- Provides students with a variety of learning modalities including instructional technology in
- Orients students to the facility.
- Conducts weekly pre-briefing and debriefing sessions during pre- and post- clinical
- Demonstrates knowledge of instructional and student policies and procedures as described
- Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrates respect for students as individuals.
- Provides positive role modeling by maintaining a professional relationship with students
and regular, timely attendance.
- Maintains control of the class and effectively and appropriately handles disruptions in the

Skills/Abilities
- Registered Nurse currently licensed in West Virginia.
- Have experience as a registered professional nurse within 2 years immediately preceding
- Have 2+ years of experience as a registered professional nurse, which should include direct
