Job Summary
A country club facility maintenance worker is responsible for the overall upkeep and repair of the club's facilities, equipment, and property assets. This includes a variety of tasks related to building maintenance, golf course maintenance, and general handyman duties.
Key responsibilities
- Building Maintenance: Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on various building systems including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning). This might involve tasks like replacing light bulbs, fixing leaks, repairing doors, and maintaining air conditioning units.
- Club Grounds Maintenance: Assist with groundskeeping tasks, including mowing, trimming, edging, and debris removal on the club grounds, tennis area, and pool area.
- Tennis Court Maintenance: Work with the Director of Racket to properly maintain the tennis courts to the standards required.
- General Handyman Duties: Handle odd jobs and minor repairs as needed around the club, such as assembling furniture, painting, and maintaining cleanliness in public areas.
- Emergency Response: Provide prompt response to emergency maintenance calls and assist with emergency action procedures during severe weather or other emergencies.
- Safety and Compliance: Maintain compliance with all safety regulations and promptly report any hazardous conditions or broken equipment to a supervisor.
- Inventory Management: Take periodic inventory of maintenance stock and equipment, order necessary supplies and parts, and maintain records of inspections and repairs.
- Teamwork and Communication: Work effectively as part of a team, communicate clearly and efficiently with supervisors and colleagues, and exhibit a positive attitude when interacting with members and guests.
Qualifications and skills
- High school diploma or GED certification is preferred.
- Demonstrated basic knowledge of facility and building maintenance practices and safety measures.
- Experience using hand and power tools in various trades such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical work.
- Basic math skills and the ability to follow instructions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Experience in facility and building maintenance or the trades industry is preferred.
- HVAC knowledge and repair skills are a plus.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose maintenance issues efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Physical demands
The role can be physically demanding and may involve:
- Walking and standing for prolonged periods.
- Lifting and carrying objects up to 50 pounds
- Pushing, pulling, and moving heavier objects.
- Working in various weather conditions, including hot, cold, rain, or sunshine.
- Exposure to dust, dirt, grime, fumes, and chemicals.
- Working near moving mechanical parts and in potentially noisy environments.
