Are you looking to experience an interesting niche of retail pharmacy practice without some of the traditional retail pharmacy headaches? We are a growing, independently-owned retail pharmacy that specializes in the practice of compounding. This is a laboratory-centric position requiring the employee to spend the majority of the day on their feet in a laboratory setting, preparing prescriptions from scratch through weighing/measuring ingredients, mixing, and utilizing various types of equipment. We are closed on weekends, weeknights, and major holidays.
The employee will initially be trained on the compounding (laboratory) side of the business with the prospect of eventually learning the retail side of the business.
Job responsibilities include:
- Non-sterile compounding (working with hazardous and non-hazardous drugs in a laboratory setting while following a formula to produce creams, liquids, capsules, suppositories, troches, rapid dissolve tablets, pet treats, and other various dosage forms)
- Utilizing equipment and devices (balances, mortars, pestles, electronic mixers, ointment mills, hot plates, tube sealers, capsule machines, convection ovens, etc.) to produce the finished compound
- Packaging the finished compound in various types of containers and dispensers
- Washing compounding labware
- Cleaning and maintenance of workstation, laboratory, and other areas of the pharmacy
- Inventory control/monitoring
- Counting pills, tablets, capsules and placing them in a container
- Ensuring compliance with applicable pharmacy laws and regulations
- Fielding incoming phone calls from patients and doctors
- Entering patient, prescription, and drug information into a computer.
- Running a cash register
- Providing excellent customer service with enthusiasm, friendliness, and efficiency
- Maintaining pharmacy records
- Retrieving messages from company voicemail and email inboxes
- Producing prescription labels and formula worksheets from a computer
- Effectively and concisely communicating with patients via our texting program
- Checking-in pharmacy orders
- Preparing shipping labels for finished orders
- Packaging and labeling finished orders that need to be shipped
Previous experience in a pharmacy setting is required. Applicant must be motivated, organized, attentive to detail, and eager to learn about this interesting niche of retail pharmacy practice. A friendly, positive personality that is comfortable working in a team environment is required. Applicant should be comfortable and have confidence in performing various mathematical calculations (multiplication, division, percentages, converting grams to milligrams or milligrams to grams, etc.); Applicant must have, at a minimum, a high school diploma (or equivalent).
This position requires availability to work 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday. The pharmacy is closed on weekends, weeknights, and major holidays.
Projected Starting Hourly Pay Rate: $17.00-20.00/hr
