Job Description
General Functions
Para-professional work performing a variety of duties in support of the unit where assigned. Incumbents in this position interface and communicate with offenders and internal and external customers on a regular basis to receive and provide information. ¿Customers¿ include judiciary, attorneys, Clerk¿s Offices, state and local agencies, employers, and citizens.
Work is performed under general supervision of assigned Supervisor and is evaluated for attention to detail, accuracy and effective communication skills.
Representative Duties/Assignments
- Researches and compiles documentation based on the area of assignment.
- Participates in meetings and seminars to remain current on rules, regulations, laws, community resources which applies to their assigned position.
- Assists officers in managing a caseload including the processing of new files and closed cases.
- Prepares documents and reports and maintains statistical information.
- Assists in file audits.
- Conducts criminal history checks and researches case information.
- Researches and responds to requests for information.
- Operates and maintains standard office equipment.
- Performs data entry and retrieves information from various computer systems.
- Interfaces with offenders on behalf of officers as directed.
- Monitors low risk offender caseload as directed by the Unit Supervisor.
- Maintains training and Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) certification records for all department staff.
- Performs other related duties and special assignments as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate¿s degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience in a Criminal Justice, Public Administration or Social Services setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
May be required to possess and maintain Florida Crime Information Center/ National Crime Information Center (FCIC/NCIC) certification.
May be required to possess and maintain Florida Notary Public certification.

Pay Grade: 011 - From $18.45 to $22.60

Educational Requirements
If your education was obtained in the United States, the County recognizes degrees or diplomas which are accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). If you have obtained education from a country other than the United States, your degree or diploma must be evaluated to determine the United States equivalency by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Service (NACES) or the Association of International Credentials Evaluations (AICE) at your expense.

Selected candidate will be required to successfully complete the pre-employment drug, physical and background check.
Qualified applicants will be required to participate and pass an assessment for the Corrections Aide position as determined by the Corrections Department. The test dates are scheduled for October 6 - October 13, 2025. These are tentative dates and may be subject to change.
