In 2019, STOPDV implemented Arkansas’s first Domestic Violence (DV) Court to help survivors of domestic violence navigate through the court system while providing advocacy and legal assistance to improve outcomes for survivors and their children, while holding offenders accountable.
Crisis Intervention Specialist II (CIS)
The Crisis Intervention Specialist II is the first point of contact for survivors of domestic violence to petition for Orders of Protection in Faulkner County. Responsibilities include but are not limited to providing:
· Crisis Intervention: individual, in- person, emotional support and guidance as the point of contact for survivors filing an Order of Protection (OOP).
· Provide individualized trauma-informed services to assist petitioners as they navigate through the OOP process.
· Administrative duties required for the OOP.
· Court- administrative duties on court days.
· Follow-up contact with petitioners as needed.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field or equivalent work experience preferred.
· An understanding of domestic violence dynamics and sensitivity to the barrier’s survivors face.
· Familiarity with domestic violence related laws, the justice system, and basic legal terminology.
· The ability to communicate both orally and in writing in a clear concise manner.
· To be culturally competent while working with people of various ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
