Commercially Sexually Exploited Youth (CSEY) Advocate – Permian Basin
Position Description
The CSEY Advocate is responsible for engaging survivors and non-offending legal guardians through trust- based relationships and coordinating resources and services to support their recovery. In addition, the CSEY provides crisis intervention, peer support, case management, medical accompaniment, law enforcement accompaniment, judicial accompaniment, outreach, and community training. The CSEY will be responsible for community partner relationships and attending care coordination planning meetings as well as MDT meetings.
Remote position:
- Must have a private space at home to work and maintain confidentiality
- Must have reliable internet
- Must be located in Midland or Odessa
Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for providing trust-based relational advocacy, peer support and case management to sex trafficking survivors (12-21) identified by individual outcry or CSE-IT assessment.
- Collaborate with survivors to plan, implement, and amend services that promote client’s safety & well- being, while helping them achieve their goals.
- Responsible for traveling throughout service area to meet with clients and attend meetings.
- Transport survivors to meetings and appointments with written legal guardian consent.
- Connecting and referring survivors with trauma informed services as needed.
- Assists law enforcement on recovery operations as needed.
- Maintains files and ensures contact information is correct and updated promptly.
- Assesses and assists in completing Crime Victim's Compensation paperwork.
- Promotes community wrap around services.
- Responsible for submitting reports promptly.
- Provides age-appropriate sex trafficking prevention presentations and community education on the topic of sex trafficking.
- On call to respond to crisis intervention.
- Recognize role in developing positive relations with the public in general.
- Assist in training law enforcement and community partners.

- Maintain knowledge of sex trafficking and trauma associated with complex trauma.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or the Executive Director.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
The CSEY Advocate reports to, is supervised by and evaluated by the Program Director and/or Executive
Director.
EVALUATION
The evaluation of work performance is ongoing and will be performed by your immediate supervisor and/or the
Executive Director. It will include the specific duties and responsibilities of this position description plus employee attitude and general working behavior. Formal evaluation will normally be performed annually but may be initiated at other times as deemed appropriate.
Qualifications & Required Skills:
- Survivors of trafficking and/or exploitation preferred
- Fluent in both English and Spanish. Must be able to speak and write both languages,
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or a Human Science Field with at least two years of relevant professional experience.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on the demands of the position.
- Ability to work in an intense and high-pressure environment.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and consistently across all platforms
- Self-starter that thrives as an independent worker.
- Ability to handle multiple crisis situations while maintaining a calm and de-escalating demeanor.
- Demonstrated ability to build trust-based relationships with traumatized populations.
- Ability to plan, organize and use time efficiently.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, valid car insurance, willing to utilize personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed as funding allows).
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft 365 and ability to trouble shoot minor technology struggles
- Ability to function and report for duty when awakened in the middle of the night.
Training
- Sex Trafficking advocates are required to complete all new hire training per Voice of Hope policies
- Sex Trafficking advocates must complete the 40-hour Office of the Attorney General advocate certification
- Sex Trafficking advocates will be required to complete trafficking specific training within 90 days of employment. Training must be approved by the Executive Director. Training can be done virtually or by attending an approved conference.
- Sex Trafficking advocate will attend a national or state trafficking conference at least every other year.

Benefits and Salary
- Benefits package includes group medical, dental and vision insurance, retirement match up to 3%, vacation time, sick time and self-care time.
- The salary for this position is negotiated between the individual and the Executive Director.
