Job Overview:
The Infection Prevention/Antimicrobial Stewardship Data Analyst will provide support for data collection, analysis, and practice monitoring. This is a specialized position that is vital to performing surveillance of hospital acquired infections and measuring Antimicrobial Stewardship and Infection Control interventions. The analyst is specifically responsible for validating, managing, and distributing institutional Infection Prevention and Antimicrobial Stewardship data.

Essential Functions:
- Collect, assess, review and analyze Infection Prevention & Antimicrobial Stewardship surveillance data
- Perform audits of infection control practices and compile results
- Maintain and update databases
- Conduct complex analyses of data from several sources, including in-house and external databases, to generate user-friendly reports to help leadership and their collaborators understand practice patterns, trends in antimicrobial utilization, and ongoing evaluation of organizational improvements, with a focus on antimicrobial usage, resistance, and adverse events
- Supports major clinical practice improvement activities and Antimicrobial Stewardship/Infection Prevention initiatives from initial analyses through evaluation
- Ability to merge, query, and manipulate data from both internal and external databases on a routine and as needed basis, including but not limited to NHSN, Vizient, and CDR
- Assist physician, pharmacist, and clinical operations leadership with design, methodological, analytical, and reporting issues relevant to clinical practice improvement initiatives (i.e. questionnaire design, measurement of concepts, sample size, statistical and clinical significance)
- Generate reports on a monthly and as needed basis, as requested by Infection Prevention/Antimicrobial Stewardship teams
- Train and support co-workers within department and division regarding data collection and analysis methodology
- Provide analytic support to understand effect of infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship initiatives on various hospital rating and reimbursement schema
