Job Overview
The Sterilization Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe and hygienic environment within the dental clinic. This position is responsible for ensuring that all instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and prepared for use, adhering to strict infection control protocols. The ideal candidate will have experience in dental assisting and a solid understanding of aseptic techniques, as well as familiarity with various dental software systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform sterilization of dental instruments and equipment following established protocols to ensure patient safety.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sterilization area and dental operatory.
- Assist in the preparation of treatment rooms for procedures, ensuring all necessary tools are available and sterile.
- Document sterilization processes and maintain accurate records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with dental staff to support chairside assisting during procedures as needed.
- Monitor inventory levels of sterilization supplies and report shortages to management.
- Adhere to infection control standards and participate in ongoing training related to infection prevention.
Skills
- Proficient in EMR systems such as Dentrix Enterprise.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical documentation practices.
- Strong background in infection control practices within a dental clinic environment.
