Development and Event Coordinator

Summary

Pursuit Center, a Houston-based nonprofit organization, is seeking a Development & Event Coordinator to support our mission of Pursuing Possibilities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Development and Event Coordinator is responsible for the planning, execution, and follow-up of Pursuit Center’s signature fundraising and donor engagement events. This role plays a key part in advancing the organization’s mission by fostering community engagement, enhancing donor relationships, and ensuring the success of high-impact events. Additionally, the Development and Event Coordinator will support other departments with event planning and execution, ensuring all agency events are successful.
This full-time position reports to the Senior Director of Development.

Major Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute at least three annual fundraising events (including but not limited to an Annual Luncheon, Sporting Clays Event, and future Golf Tournament) and an annual Donor Appreciation Event.
  • Support other internal events by assisting other departments with event planning and execution, ensuring all agency events are successful and ensuring Pursuit Center programs have promotional materials for off-campus events.
  • Design events with a mission-focused mindset, providing top-tier guest experience.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with sponsors, vendors, and community partners to support event success.
  • Coordinate event logistics including venue selection, catering, event registration, AV, permits, and volunteer management.
  • Develop, track and manage event budgets, ensuring alignment with financial goals and accurate reporting of revenue and expenses.
  • Work with Senior Director to secure prospects, creating sponsorship packages, and ensuring sponsor benefits are fulfilled before, during, and after events.
  • Provide written updates to leadership for all major events.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Director to create promotional materials, social media content, and event communications.
  • Maintain accurate records in Bloomerang and other systems to support donor stewardship and event follow-up.
  • Provide post-event analysis and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Represent Pursuit Center at community events and networking opportunities to promote the organization’s mission.
  • Revitalize and manage the Pursuit Young Professionals program.
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Social media savvy and able to navigate and post on multiple platforms to expand brand recognition.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Experience with donor databases (Bloomerang preferred) or willingness to learn.
  • Working knowledge of design and implementation software necessary for job function (Constant Contact, Google Analytics, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, X, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit fundraising strategies and donor engagement best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in event planning, preferably in a nonprofit or fundraising context.
  • Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Pursuit Center.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as required for events.
