Why You'll Love This Job

Are you a strategic and hands-on imaging leader ready to drive innovation and excellence in radiologic services across a growing healthcare organization? We’re seeking a Director of Imaging to assume full authority, responsibility, and accountability for the operations of our Radiology department across all facilities. This includes leadership over X-Ray, CT, and Ultrasound services (by contract), with a strong focus on safety, compliance, quality, and efficient service delivery.

As the Director of Imaging, you’ll ensure the highest standards of patient care and minimal radiation exposure through oversight of daily operations, staff supervision, equipment performance, and regulatory compliance. You will collaborate closely with the VP of Facility Operations on strategic planning, budget management, procurement, and staffing. You’ll also serve as the Radiation Safety Officer and work in partnership with medical directors, IT, and external consultants to align operations with industry best practices and organizational goals.

This is a dynamic role for a clinical leader who thrives in a high-accountability, high-impact environment and is passionate about patient safety, staff development, and operational excellence in radiologic care.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate radiology services (CT, X-Ray, Ultrasound by contract) to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality imaging.

  • Supervise and maintain proficiency to perform diagnostic imaging studies when needed.

  • Oversee staff schedules, PTO requests, and staffing levels to meet patient needs and budgetary requirements.

  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and evaluate radiology personnel, providing ongoing coaching, competency checks, and annual performance reviews.

  • Develop staff through educational opportunities, industry-standard training, and emergency preparedness (e.g., fire, disaster, and drill performance evaluations).

  • Maintain compliance with company policies, OSHA standards, state/federal regulations, and applicable radiology and safety guidelines.

  • Lead all aspects of radiation safety, monitor staff/patient exposure, and coordinate Radiation Safety Officer meetings.

  • Formulate and revise technique charts to maintain radiographic contrast and density standards.

  • Maintain film records, statistical reports, and other operational documentation to ensure regulatory readiness.

  • Manage and maintain imaging equipment, professional service contracts, and FDA-related compliance.

  • Oversee inventory and supply chain to ensure adequate stock levels and efficient use of resources.

  • Partner with IT to maintain radiology infrastructure and systems.

  • Assist the VP of Facility Operations with departmental budget planning and fiscal oversight.

  • Promote staff engagement in High Reliability Organization (HRO) practices, fostering a culture of safety and quality improvement.

  • Develop positive employee relations by facilitating routine communication and unit meetings.

  • Lead quality assurance (QA) initiatives and prepare staff for inspection surveys, including developing Plans of Correction and follow-up actions.

  • Collaborate with physicians, consultants, and external agencies to improve services and resolve issues.

  • Promote customer service excellence by addressing and resolving patient/family concerns.

  • Participate in community events to promote organizational visibility and wellness initiatives.

  • Maintain confidentiality and protect patient and staff privacy at all times.

  • Stay current through continuing education, professional networking, and active membership in professional organizations.

  • Perform other duties as assigned, including research, analysis, and report preparation.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate of Applied Science Degree in Radiologic Technology from an accredited school (minimum requirement).

  • Successful completion of an approved Radiologic Technology program.

  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Computed Tomography Technologist.

  • Previous experience as a Radiology Technologist (preferred).

  • Prior supervisory or team lead experience is required.

  • In-depth knowledge of diagnostic imaging procedures, radiation safety, equipment operations, and applicable state/federal laws and regulations.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, time management, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to interpret technical documents, develop budgets, and apply mathematical concepts in practical situations.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant healthcare systems.

  • Must be able to travel between operational sites.

  • Physical ability to perform typical radiologic duties and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
