Position Title: Leo Cancer Care Imaging Manager
Reports to: Head of Product Development
Position Summary:
The Imaging Manager provides leadership and mentorship for a team of imaging scientists and the software engineers assigned to support the imaging roadmap. This individual will align and balance the efforts of their team to drive continuous improvements for the imaging subsystem of the Leo Cancer Care portfolio of products. As an expert in their field, they will provide technical leadership in designing, developing, and managing medical imaging solutions for Leo Cancer Care. This position entails advanced algorithm development for image reconstruction, signal processing, artifact reduction, image quality assurance, and visualization, ensuring that clinical imaging workflows meet user needs with precision and reliability.
The Imaging Manager is deeply involved in all stages of the product development lifecycle: gathering and defining imaging requirements, designing and implementing technical solutions, and supporting testing, validation, and release efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a small team of 3-6 imaging scientists and physicists
- Serve as the domain expert for the imaging subsystem
- Design and optimize algorithms for CT image reconstruction and artifact reduction
- Conduct rigorous analysis of imaging experiments and system performance
- Review current literature and emerging techniques to integrate into imaging solutions
- Define and validate image quality metrics for clinical applicability
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and UI teams to integrate imaging subsystems
- Author and validate imaging requirements, documentation, and test plans
- Communicate imaging workflows and requirements to UI developers and stakeholders
- Present technical material effectively to both technical and non‑technical or executive audiences
Required Qualifications and Skills
- PhD in Medical Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline
- Proven expertise in CT image reconstruction, imaging theory, detector physics, signal encoding and optimization methods, leadership experience preferred
- Hands‑on experience in experimental physics and system modeling, including correction of non‑idealities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing executive summaries and presentations
- Creative problem solver with a track record of delivering innovative technical solutions
- Extensive experience creating and reviewing rigorous technical documentation
Technical Competencies & Domain Knowledge
- Deep understanding of the full imaging chain from acquisition hardware and scan protocols to reconstruction pipelines and display systems
- Familiarity with system geometry, beamline components, patient and system motion modeling, detector physics, and signal processing methods
- Expertise in statistical modeling and correction of physical and hardware artifacts
- Experience collaborating across subsystems to guide design decisions impacting reconstructed image quality
- Leadership in training and mentoring team members to elevate team output
- Familiarity with C++, CUDA, GPU programming, and MATLAB is desirable
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Primarily office and lab-based work, with extended periods of sitting while working at computer workstations
- Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds) for equipment handling or setup
- Frequent use of standard office and lab equipment, including computers, displays, keyboards, testing tools, and imaging hardware
- Some travel may be required for visits to company facilities or clinical partner sites.
