Directs the logistics function of an organization, managing traffic and transportation functions. Manages work associated with the development of new systems and the maintenance of current systems pertaining to distribution operations.
Essential Duties:
- Ensures that all traffic/transportation activities are safe and compliance with local, state, and federal DOT regulations.
- Tracks changes to regulations and modifies organizational policies and procedures in response
- Maintains accurate travel, inspection, and maintenance records.
- Working with equipment or fleet managers, coordinates scheduling of staff and equipment
- Establishes procedures for investigating or responding to incidents or accidents.
- May ensure compliance of transportation service providers or other third-party organizations.
- Develops training, procedures, and tools to promote proper and effective usage of distribution processes
- Ensures that standard distribution processes meet customer requirements.
- Composes reports regarding operational performance.
- Continuously researches vendors in search of possible upgrades.
- Oversees storage and movement of goods or supplies.
- Establishes policies and procedures governing warehousing, inventory management, or transportation.
- Assesses departmental performance, identifies weaknesses or risk, and suggests operational changes to improve efficiency or reduce costs.
- Manages vendor relationships or work with vendors to resolve quality, shipping, or invoicing issues.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 10+ years of experience
