What You'll Do
As a Waiver Services Specialist Supervisor, you will:
- Lead with Purpose: Supervise and support a team of Waiver Services Specialists who determine eligibility and funding for a variety of HCBS Waivers (including AD, TBI, CDD, DDAD, and FSW).
- Coach and Mentor: Provide training, technical assistance, and performance feedback to ensure high-quality service delivery and continuous professional growth.
- Strengthen Systems: Develop and implement internal procedures, monitor compliance, and ensure consistency in waiver operations and eligibility determinations.
- Collaborate Broadly: Serve as a liaison between DHHS, Medicaid providers, families, and stakeholders to resolve concerns and ensure timely, effective services.
- Drive Outcomes: Analyze medical documentation, evaluate level of care, authorize Medicaid payments, and guide staff through appeals and dispute resolution processes.
- Improve Processes: Track data, create training tools, and support continuous improvement in program evaluation and service quality.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and professional experience in education, psychology, social work, sociology, human services, or a related field.
- Experience within a specialized developmental disabilities service system in the delivery of habilitation and/or case management services.
- Experience leading, coordinating, directing, monitoring, and/or supervising others.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Nebraska’s Aged & Disabled or DD service systems, statutes, and waiver processes.
- Supervisory experience in a health or human services setting.
- Knowledge of Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Waivers.
- Experience with Therap, NFocus, and Microsoft Office programs.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

- Strong knowledge of HCBS Waivers and community-based support systems.
- Skill in coaching teams, managing performance, and problem-solving with empathy and efficiency.
- Ability to interpret regulations, analyze medical/functional documentation, and make eligibility determinations.
- Effective communication, time management, and organizational abilities.
- A passion for supporting individuals to live full, self-directed lives in their communities.
