SUMMARY:
The Classroom Assistant/paraprofessional plays a key role in supporting the Lead Teacher with the implementation of lesson plans and classroom activities that foster children’s development across all learning domains. This position provides direct supervision and assistance to children throughout daily routines, including classroom activities, meals, outdoor play, rest time, and transitions. The Classroom Assistant also helps maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming learning environment while promoting positive behavior guidance and contributing to child assessments through observation and documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, & CRITICAL SKILLS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s Degree or Child Development coursework preferred.
- Experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with children, families, and staff.
- Knowledge of child development and positive behavior support strategies.
- Ability to maintain a safe and engaging classroom environment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. and supervise active children both indoors and outdoors.
- Basic knowledge of Google Suite or similar software for documentation and communication.
