Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervises the Sales Department staff, including reviewing existing job responsibilities and reporting relationships, assigning duties, providing feedback regarding job performance, and developing employees’ skill levels, while developing an effective team.
- Hires, trains, terminates, and evaluates the performance of all Sales Department employees.
- Responsible for understanding and complying with California Labor Code and all wage and hour laws, including but not limited to compensating employees for all hours worked; providing meal, rest, and recovery periods; and maintaining accurate time records.
- Responsible for complying with all state and federal laws, including but not limited to equal employment; pay equity; harassment, discrimination, and retaliation; and reasonable accommodations.
- Executes policies, procedures, systems, and controls for the effective running of the Sales Department.
- Executes, administers, and coordinates the activities of the Sales Department in accordance with policies, goals, and objectives established by the General Manager. Assists the Executive Team (ET) in the development of corporate policies and goals that cover Dealership sales operations, personnel, financial performance, and growth.
- Develops, implements, and monitors the execution of processes that help grow Dealership culture and profitability.
- Understands the metrics that drive the Sales Department’s profitability.
- Maintains reporting systems required by the ET and the manufacturer.
- Attends managers meetings.
- Monitors the performance of the Sales Department.
- Strives for teamwork within the department and with all other departments.
- Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect repair operations, such as Bureau of Automotive Repairs rules and regulations, hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
- Understands and ensures compliance with manufacturer policy procedure.
- Holds weekly department meetings to review progress towards forecast.
- Establishes and maintains good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business.
- Fosters professional employee development and determines needs for advanced training.
- Makes customer satisfaction a department priority, ensuring that sales personnel are courteous and respectful in their interaction with customers.
- Handles customer complaints immediately and according to Dealership guidelines.
- Works with all managers to find ways to improve the overall profitability of the Dealership.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Must possess a mixture of strong management skills and technical knowledge necessary to effectively direct and supervise subordinates in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
- Must be willing to learn and expand knowledge.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift, bend over, and stand.
- Must be to carry, push, pull 50 lbs.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work in an outside environment.
- Must be able to drive vehicles both small and big.
- May have to work in a noisy environment and in inclement weather conditions.
