Duties

We are looking for:
An experienced administrative professional with exceptional planning and organizational skills who projects a positive attitude and encourages collaboration, always looking to meet and exceed expectations.

This position will provide administrative support for County Performance & Administration Section, while working closely with the Education Specialist to coordinate and maintain the county assessor's education program and interacts with county assessors, their staff, and various other professionals regarding all facets of the division's assessor training program.

  • Ensuring county appraisers maintain their required accreditation.
  • Providing support and coordination of educational courses sponsored or co-sponsored by the Property Tax Division that are designed to provide county staff with the technical knowledge to appropriately administer Washington's property tax system.
  • Administer the Property Tax Accreditation Program, maintaining files for all accredited personnel, processing renewal applications, preparing certificates and correspondence when required, and maintaining course signature sheets to confirm attendance and course completion.

Qualifications

We are looking for a motivated professional with these competencies to ensure effective performance in overseeing property tax programs, managing educational initiatives, and administering accreditations processes. The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:


Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint software applications
  • Working knowledge of Internet applications
  • Knowledge of DOR’s Plain Language Guidelines and the Washington State Correspondence Guidelines
  • Basic knowledge of state government, agency operations, and the legislative process


Skills

  • Excellent business writing skills, with extensive proofreading, grammar, and punctuation skills
  • Customer service experience and/or training
  • Highly organized and reliable
  • Skilled in supporting education and accreditation logistics.
  • Skilled in assisting with virtual and in person class preparation, including organizing handouts, verifying attendance, and resolving technical issues.
  • Providing direct support to instructors and students before and during training.

  • Ability to independently prioritize, manage, and timely complete heavy workloads.
  • Ability to self-identify, manage, and adapt to evolving requirements
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply rules, policies, and procedures of the Department of Revenue
  • Ability to provide administrative support to the CP&A Team and the Division
  • Able to maintain records and track data for program specific reporting
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to be flexible, professional, and highly motivated in your work

The above Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities may be obtained through the following professional experiences, education, or life experiences:

  • High School graduation or GED AND three years of progressively responsible experience in office, secretarial, bookkeeping, accounting, or general administrative work.

Formal education and/or training in office or secretarial occupations, bookkeeping, or accounting will substitute, year for year, for experience.

Note: Positions in this class typically require keyboarding or typing accurately at a net speed of 50 words per minute or faster.
