Key Responsibilities
- Answer and process 911 emergency and non-emergency calls.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire department, and emergency medical services using our computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system.
- Monitor radio traffic and ensure officer safety during incidents and traffic stops.
- Communicate clearly with callers in stressful situations while obtaining accurate information.
- Keep detailed records of calls, unit locations, and incident responses.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 18 years old at the time of hire.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts on days or evenings, including weekends and holidays.
- Strong multitasking, listening, and data entry skills.
- Clear speaking voice and ability to hear multiple radio and phone channels at once.
- Must pass background check, pre-employment testing, psychological exam, and drug/alcohol screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as a 911 dispatcher, emergency communications operator, or similar role.
- Knowledge of Crawford County geography and surrounding areas.
- Bilingual abilities a plus
