As an Environmental Inspector, you will be responsible for monitoring construction projects (both internally and as a hired third party) for compliance to permit, regulatory agency, and Company environmental standards and requirements. The position assists in establishment and communication of environmental policies and requirements, conducts weekly and storm-event job site inspections, responds to occasional emergency environmental incidents, and generates weekly environmental & quality control reports for all assigned projects.
What you’ll do:
Travel to assigned project sites to complete weekly and storm-event environmental compliance inspections
Generate weekly environmental & quality control inspection reports for each assigned project detailing the findings of said inspections
Provide accurate feedback to project management teams with recommendations for maintaining environmental compliance
Work as a team member with United Rentals project management, site foreman, sales staff, subcontractors, and other personnel to ensure awareness of and adherence to environmental requirements
Attend project specific site meetings when possible
Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science or other related field preferred, or equivalent combination of a valid Stormwater Inspector Certification with work experience in the fields of Environmental Compliance and Stormwater Management
0-3 years’ experience in Environmental industry or related field
Knowledge of NPDES permit/Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) requirements preferred
Experience with Microsoft Office suite and (using Esri’s ArcGIS platform preferred)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to travel extensively (regionally) to multiple job sites weekly
Must be open and available for regular job-related communications during work hours
Regular and predictable attendance is essential
External environment: exposure to sun, extreme temperatures, loud noise, dust, gas and/or fumes
