Summary:

  • Answers telephone calls. Refers advice calls to RN.
  • Functions as receptionist at Emergency Dept. back desk.
  • Transcribes physician orders to lab, x-ray, EKG, CT requisitions. Informs care provider and Charge Nurse of orders completed and orders which require nurse intervention. Phones lab, x-ray to inform of needed tests.
  • Transport properly labeled and packaged specimens to lab.
  • Assists ED Registration Clerk in obtaining needed demographic registration information, signatures on hospital forms and witnessing signatures.
  • Perform various direct patient care activities, procedures and other indirect services under the direction of a Clinical Nurse
  • Deliver quality care to patients as delegated by the Clinical Nurse and according to hospital policy and procedure
  • Assist with procedures as determined by hospital policy and procedure, and regulatory guidelines
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and safe patient and unit environment
  • Provide optimum assistance to the medical and nursing staff by providing/ assisting patient with activities of daily living and daily assignments
  • Assist in orientation of new Nursing Assistants
  • Provide courteous and prompt response to patient requests
  • May be required to cover the house
  • Assist with unit maintenance related to ordering and receiving supplies, medications, manuals, and equipment
  • (Essential duties common to all positions)
  • Maintain and document all applicable required education
  • Comply with the company's attendance policy
  • Participate in the continuous, quality improvement activities of the department and institution
  • Perform work in a cost effective manner
  • Perform work in accordance with all departmental pay practices and scheduling policies, including but not limited to, overtime, various shift work, and on-call situations
  • Perform work in alignment with the overall mission and strategic plan of the organization
  • Follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures, as applicable
  • Perform related duties as assigned

Qualifications


Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and/or abilities.

One year of patient care experience preferred.

Previous clerical experience preferred

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Ability to communicate both orally and in writing and to conduct self in a courteous and professional manner.

BLS required within 30 days of hire.

High School Diploma.

Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Must have basic computer knowledge.

Excellent analytical, problem solving, and observation skills.

Required ability to calmly implement patient interventions during high stress, critical situations.

Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required.

Minimum Salary: $11.0
