Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Estimating Assistant/Shop Drawings Drafter/Assistant Project Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of construction processes and be proficient in drafting software such as AutoCAD. This role involves creating detailed drawings and plans that adhere to project specifications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards. The Drafter will collaborate closely with the estimator, project managers, and construction teams to deliver high-quality documentation that supports successful project execution. The ideal candidate must be willing to assist our estimators and project managers with both pre- construction and construction matters such as project submittals, vendor pricing and material ordering. A willingness to learn more within the estimating role and assistant project management role is essential.
Duties
- Prepare detailed drawings and plans using drafting software, ensuring precision and clarity.
- Collaborate with estimators and project managers to understand project requirements and specifications.
- Utilize AutoCAD for document management and markup processes.
- Assist in construction estimating by providing accurate takeoffs and material lists.
- Engage in negotiation processes related to contracts and pricing with vendors and subcontractors.
- Implement cost control measures throughout the drafting process to maintain budget integrity.
- Provide support in project management tasks, ensuring timelines are met and documentation is up-to-date.
- Conduct site visits to gather information and ensure designs align with on-site conditions.
- Maintain organized records of all drafts, revisions, and related documentation.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in drafting software, particularly AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of construction principles, including construction estimating, cost control, and pricing strategies.
- Experience in construction site environments is preferred, providing practical insights into project execution.
- Familiarity with construction management practices and contract negotiations.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all documentation.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members across various departments.
