MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Flight Operations Specialist to join our team in Patuxent River, MD. This is an onsite position.
This role supports Maritime & Land (M&L) in NAVAIR’s Systems Engineering Department (SED). SED is a key part of NAVAIR’s efforts to acquire and sustain naval aviation capabilities and plays a crucial role in the development, testing, and support of naval aircraft and weapons systems. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Supporting the PMA Interim Flight Clearance (IFC) – ISR Services Maritime and Land (M&L)
Acting as the primary point of contact for information and process knowledge regarding specific type Flight Clearance (FC) for their assigned platform(s)
Coordinating and executing the management/development of all assigned FC Track and ensuring the transition of Interim FC (IFC) content into the appropriate Permanent FC (PFC)
Managing and developing assigned FC Tracks, ensuring timely transition of Interim FC (IFC) content into Permanent FC (PFC)
Creating, updating, and submitting tracking reports on IFC/PFC status to the PMA and other stakeholders
Developing required content and facilitating flight clearance progression through engineering reviews for airworthiness
Preparing and delivering formal briefs to support new or evolving fleet capabilities and platform types
Facilitating and hosting meetings or briefings as required by the APME/APMSE or other PMA team members
Must be willing to travel up to 10%
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Logistics, or a related field and 4+ years of relevant experience; an Associate’s with 6+ years, or High School diploma with 8+ years may be substituted in lieu of Bachelor's degree
Experience with flight operations as a member of a crewed aircraft platform (manned or unmanned) in either Civil or DoD applications
Experience with developing and implementing configuration management procedures for technical data
Proficiency with Adobe, Microsoft Office, and related editorial/graphics software on local, networked, and web-based platforms
Experience in engaging with stakeholders including NAVAIR Systems Engineering Leadership, Airworthiness and Cybersafe Office (ACO), NAVAIR Engineering SMEs, and Fleet users
Knowledge of FAA NAS policies related to airspace classes and altitudes, as well as DCMA, DoD, OPNAV, CNAF, and NAVAIR directives on flight operations and maintenance procedures
Knowledge of OEM flight, operator, and maintenance manuals with the ability to translate OEM information into DoD/NAVAIR programs, procedures, and technical documentation
Clearance Requirements:
Must have an active Secret security clearance and be willing and able to obtain a Top Secret security clearance.
Physical Requirements:
Tasking is primarily computer based.
The person in this position must be able to operate and perform tasking on a PC as well as operate other typical office equipment (e.g. copying machine, shredder, projection systems, etc).
Must be able to effectively communicate with co-workers, Customers, and management through email, phone, and other virtual communication methods (e.g. TEAMS, ZOOM).
The projected compensation range for this position is $75,700.00-$126,300.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
