Compensation: $85,000 – $95,000/year + 13% Bonus + Full Benefits

Education: Bachelor’s in Business, Math, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience

Summary

We are seeking a Food Ingredient Buyer to oversee procurement and inventory of raw materials essential for food production. The role requires strong organizational, analytical, and negotiation skills, with a preference for candidates experienced in food commodity purchasing.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage timely replenishment of raw materials, considering lead times, storage capacity, and shelf life.
• Ensure accurate pricing (including freight) and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Act as liaison between internal teams and vendors to resolve issues, credits, and reimbursements.
• Partner with QA during audits and collaborate with R&D for new ingredient sourcing.
• Proactively manage shortages that could impact production; provide on-call support as needed.
• Coordinate material transfers between facilities when formulations or production change.
• Collaborate with Logistics to optimize freight and backhaul opportunities.
• Resolve invoice discrepancies via DocuWare.
• Provide coverage for other buyers as needed.
• Prepare and submit weekly supply variance reports, making adjustments as necessary.
• Address short shelf-life or dead inventory issues.
• Lead quarterly inventory counts and reconciliation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Mathematics, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3–5 years of raw material/ingredient purchasing experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Strong background in vendor negotiation and food industry/commodity buying.
• Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
