Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Freight Broker to join our dynamic logistics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the transportation of goods, ensuring timely delivery while maintaining strong relationships with clients and carriers. This role requires a deep understanding of supply chain management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Develop and maintain relationships with customers and carriers to facilitate efficient freight movement.
- Coordinate and manage all aspects of the transportation process, including dispatching and tracking shipments.
- Utilize customer relationship management (CRM) tools to manage leads and customer interactions effectively.
- Negotiate rates with carriers to ensure competitive pricing while maximizing profit margins.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless operations and address any issues that may arise during transit.
- Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities and generate leads for potential clients.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, transactions, and communications using AS400 or similar software systems.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in transportation planning and logistics.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in freight brokerage or a related field such as 3PL or supply chain management is preferred.
- Strong skills in inside sales, lead generation, and customer relationship management are essential.
- Familiarity with dispatching processes and transportation planning is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier) operations is a plus.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in relevant software applications, including AS400 or similar systems.
