Maintenance Technician at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex (JRTC) plays a critical role in supporting the safe and functional operation of all buildings, systems, and infrastructure at the JRTC. This hands-on position involves a mix of preventative maintenance, general repair work, and timely response to facility issues. The technician ensures all facility areas meet safety standards and remain operational for daily and event-based needs.
Responsibilities
- Inspect buildings, equipment, and systems for functionality and safety
- Assist with installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems
- Conduct routine quality checks and preventative maintenance
- Perform general maintenance tasks including plumbing, carpentry, painting, and minor electrical repairs
- Address structural issues such as door, window, or wall repairs
- Troubleshoot and repair plumbing issues including leaks or clogs
- Respond to electrical issues including damaged or exposed wiring
- Operate hand tools and power tools including drills, saws, planers, routers, and sanders
- Record all work and repairs in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and supplies; recommend purchases as needed
- Follow all safety procedures and participate in regular safety meetings and training
- Apply OSHA standards and local building codes to all tasks
- Attend ongoing training programs (in-person and virtual)
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager or Maintenance Supervisor
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
- 2+ years of prior experience in building maintenance or a related field
- Certifications related to the duties in the job description
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals
- Skilled in the use of basic hand and power tools
- Strong problem-solving skills and logical reasoning
- Self-motivated and capable of working both independently and as part of a team
- Flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities and schedules
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds

The Jackie Robinson Training Complex (JRTC), operated by Major League Baseball (MLB) located in Vero Beach, Florida, serves as a year-round hub for amateur development initiatives and events designed to diversify and strengthen the talent pipelines of baseball and softball. We are the permanent home to several signature youth-focused events and programs, such as the Nike RBI World Series and the Hank Aaron Invitational, which teach players how to succeed on and off the field. The historic facility, formerly known as Dodgertown, was renamed Jackie Robinson Training Complex in honor of its trailblazing namesake.
