Global Procurement & Logistics (GPL)
General Manager
Reports to the: Vice President
The General Manager will organize and oversee the daily operations of GPL. The General Manager is responsible for the efficient day-to-day running of the operations of the office and warehouse including the management of the liaison between the warehouse and the office staff.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Liaises with the VP to make decisions for operational activities and set strategic goals;
- Plans and monitor the day-to-day running of business to ensure smooth progress;
- Supervises staff and provides constructive feedback;
- Evaluates regularly the efficiency of business procedures according to organizational objectives and apply improvements;
· Allocates staff resources;
· Go-to-person for all queries;
· Improves Operational efficiency and productivity;
· Supervises Office and Warehouse staff – all orders staged, checked and departed on time and accurately;
· The tracking and recording of inventory, and effective allocation of staff resources. Manages procurement processes and coordinate material and resources allocation
- Oversees customer support processes and organize them to enhance customer satisfaction
- Revises and/or formulate policies and promote their implementation
- Manages relationships/agreements with external partners/ customers
- Evaluates overall performance by gathering, analyzing and interpreting data and metrics
- Ensures that the company runs with legality and conformity to established regulations
- Ensures all orders are staged, checked and depart on time;
· Go-to-person for all queries;
- Ensures compliance with OSHA regulations;
· Supervises all inbound and outbound shipments to ensure they are correct and
· carried out in a timely fashion.
- Ensures accuracy of customer services;
- Ensures proper labor coverage for daily workload;
Overseas the Drayage function;
· Provides direct reports with leadership, direction and coaching to achieve work
· objectives and improve performance and skills;
· Ensures the safe, clean and efficient operation of the warehouse to meet service
· standards;
- Assists in developing a program to train and motivate personnel for increased effectiveness;
- Develops and implements shipping and receiving work schedules and assignments to ensure effective and efficient operations;
- Makes recommendations to the VP on programs to improve overall operations;
- Interacts with the customer on a daily basis and attends regular customer meetings;
- Directs the operations of the warehouse personnel to achieve prescribed objectives;
- Develops and implements a daily plan for allocating jobs;
- Coordinates with Warehouse, Drivers and office Manager/staff to achieve operational
· excellence;
- Maintains a professional and courteous relationship with customers and ensures that all personnel do the same;
Requirements:
- BSc/BA in business administration or relevant field;
- At least 6 years of management experience in a warehouse or distribution environment;
- Logistics Management;
- Experience of staff management;
- Proven experience of equivalent position;
- Excellent organizational and leadership abilities;
- Outstanding communication and people skills;
- Knowledge of industry’s legal rules and guidelines;
- In-depth knowledge of diverse business functions and principles (e.g. supply chain, logistics, customer services, etc.);
- Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics;
- Familiarity with MS Office and various business software packages;
- Inventory Control Management;
- Experience of achieving efficiency and quality control of warehouse operations;
- Computer applications using MS office and Excel;
- Computer applications experience using Cargowise system desired;
- Working knowledge of OSHA, HAZMAT, FDA regulations and the willingness to become certified in one or more of these areas as necessary;
- Excellent customer service skills;
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills;
- A willingness to be hands on where required to get the job done.

- Ability and availability to work irregular or extended hours as needed;
