The Grant Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial, accounting and grant support services in order to meet the needs of the organization and the donor. This position needs to understand the grants budget and spending plans as well as how to draw money from various federal, state, and local governments. This position will work closely with the other members of the Finance Team and Program Managers to ensure grant performance are in compliance with governing agencies terms of budgeting, reporting and variance analysis functions.
Additionally, the Grant Accountant is responsible for preparing audit work papers, account analyses, and troubleshooting accounting software problems. This position requires a high degree of analytical ability with only general and limited supervision.
HOURS/SCHEDULE
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Minimum Education Requirements:
- BS in Accounting required.
- Non-profit accounting experience preferred.
Required Experience:
- Two to three years previous accounting experience is necessary to fully understand general ledger, financial statement preparation and account analysis.
Other Skills and Abilities Required:
Ability to effectively communicate financial information to different audiences, both financial and non- financial. Familiarity and practical working knowledge of grant reporting is preferred. Exposure to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll functions is needed to understand the interactions and effect on the General Ledger.
