Liberty Lake is a summer day camp and event facility located in Mansfield Township, NJ. 30 minutes north of Philadelphia, and 30 minutes south of Princeton.

Position: Grounds & Facilities Specialist – Seasonal Work (April through November, including weekends)
Classification: Non-Exempt / Hourly – Part Time

General Function and Essential Responsibilities:
Facility Maintenance Workers perform semi-skilled work on the Liberty Lake grounds which includes the regular maintenance of grounds for a summer camp and event facility, operation of electrically-powered and gasoline-powered groundskeeping equipment for landscaping. Besides landscaping, there is janitorial, and general labor involved in running a 60 acre facility.
1. Perform tasks to maintain a clean facility and activity areas throughout the day, including common areas, bathrooms, maintenance shop, and storage areas.
2. Perform tasks common to the care of grounds and landscapes, including planting, pruning, and trimming, trees, shrubs, ground cover, and flowers
3. Remove trash and debris from public areas by regularly inspecting grounds for debris; raking, sweeping, and bagging leaves, debris, and trash from customer use areas, then transporting trash to designated central collection points.
4. Perform regular grounds and landscape maintenance by mowing lawns, trimming and edging around trees, plantings, sidewalks, and buildings; weeding, by hand or utilizing proper tools and equipment
5. Perform tasks with for pool chemical or other facility chemicals with proper personal protective equipment, following strict instructions of supervisors
6. Perform general maintenance and repairs maintaining landscape lighting, signs, and fences; and repairing paths, parking lots, athletic fields, courts, etc.
7. Safely operate light vehicles when trained, such as pick-up trucks, tractors, or riding mowers and portable power tools and equipment such as saws, grass trimmers, leaf blowers, sprayers, paint machines and other groundskeeping equipment by following operator instructions, and wearing appropriate safety protection.
8. Ensure that maintenance equipment is operational by performing routine and preventative maintenance and cleaning of tools, equipment and machines.
9. Perform painting work in the preparation and maintaining of building structures, walls, woodwork, furniture, and equipment.
10. Perform custodial services in offices, lavatories, restrooms, etc.
11. Perform minor maintenance work using hand and power tools by making carpentry repairs, perform minor plumbing repairs, and replace light bulbs, and fluorescent ballasts.
12. Quickly identify and address any facility related safety issues encountered, communicating with supervisors when necessary.
13. Contribute to the overall success of the organization by performing any other related duties as assigned.
Required qualifications / characteristics
- Ability and desire to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Ability to lift 75 pounds without issues or health concerns.
- Ability to stand, sit, squat, twist, and work on feet all day.
- Fluent in English (read, speak, write) in order to follow directions and complete tasks in a timely manner. Written and oral communication skills is a must.
- Maintains a neat, clean, well-groomed appearance.
- Dependable. Follows set time schedules.
- Ability to interact positively with co-workers and patrons.
- Availability some weekends .
Desired qualifications and characteristics
- Driver’s license
- Physically fit, and strong enough for labor duties
- A good sense of personal accountability
- Experience with power tools, hand tools, lawn equipment.
- Experience with heavy machinery, like a small tractor, loader, and skid steerer
Location
The location for this role is at our facility, which is located in Mansfield Township (Columbus), with a Bordentown address.
