JOB FUNCTION/ SUMMARY:
The Group Manager is responsible for leading a team of Bankers and Relationship Managers serving middle market clients. This role drives the team’s efforts to acquire, expand, and retain client relationships while managing risk, ensuring portfolio quality, and delivering tailored credit and treasury solutions. The Group Manager fosters a performance-driven culture and supports execution of regional growth and client experience objectives.
Scope:
  • Oversees a portfolio of up to 75 middle market clients with credit exposure up to $50MM
  • Clients typically have $100MM+ in annual revenue and operate in target industries
  • Adheres to Bank guidelines on pricing, credit structure, and risk appetite
  • Acts as the primary leader for a defined banker team within a region or vertical
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Directly manages a team of Bankers and Relationship Managers
  • Sets performance expectations, supports development plans, and provides coaching and feedback
  • Drives accountability for pipeline generation, relationship growth, and credit quality
  • Collaborates with Credit and Product partners to ensure team effectiveness and deal execution
  • Oversees the delivery of banking services and credit solutions that align with client needs and Bank goals
  • Supports Banker and RM efforts to grow revenue through needs-based conversations and product delivery
  • Facilitates regular portfolio reviews and calling activity to deepen client engagement
  • Acts as an escalation point for client matters and complex deal structures
  • Supports team members in originating new commercial relationships
  • Maintains visibility in the market through networking, sponsorships, and community involvement
  • Monitors competitor activity and trends within the assigned market
  • Partners with Underwriters to evaluate credit structures and risk mitigation strategies
  • Ensures the team is proactive in managing credit renewals, covenant tracking, and early-stage problem loans
  • Holds team accountable for adhering to risk, regulatory, and policy standards
  • Ensures effective use of CRM systems to manage calling programs and opportunity tracking
  • Coordinates with support partners to maintain high service standards and operational efficiency
  • Participates in special assignments and projects as directed by senior leadership
  • Complies with all applicable federal, state, and local banking laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; concentration in Finance, Accounting, or Business preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years of commercial banking experience, preferably in middle market
  • Minimum 3 years of team management or leadership experience
  • Strong credit skills and familiarity with middle market lending structures and products
  • Knowledge of banking regulations and compliance standards
