Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Vice President of the Housing Choice Voucher Program, the primary role of this position is to
identify affordable and accessible units for participants, as well as
work with Landlords and participants
from the leasing process through the move in process. The Housing Relocation Specialist communicates with case managers within the County regarding updates in the leasing process for their respective participants.


Essential Duties:

  • Conduct pre-screening and intakes with all potential participants.
  • Promotes and advertises the program
    to landlords.
  • Travels throughout the County in search of affordable and accessible units.
  • Educate landlords on the Housing Authority and the programs offered here.
  • Conducts housing research & daily housing search.
  • Recruits new landlords and units; providing incentives within the budget as needed.
  • Follow up on unit leads provided to participants.
  • Assists with scheduling unit showings between the landlord and participant.
  • Assists with participant-landlord communication.
  • Negotiates rent with landlords.
  • Continually communicates with participants to provide status updates.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with internal and external providers.
  • Ensure all client data is accurately tracked and recorded
  • Ensures client files are up to date.
  • Allocates incentive and security deposit, as appropriate.
  • Processes the initial moves in our current software.
  • Creates and submits incentive & security deposit paperwork to the finance department.
  • Attends case conferencing calls & provides updates.
  • Assists with CPQR and PHARE reporting requirements.
  • Attends conferences, meetings, and training as assigned.
  • Coordinates with HCVP staff, as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration preferred, or a closely related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One (1) year experience in customer service.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Work is mostly sedentary but may involve some physical exertion, such as kneeling, crouching, or lifting to obtain files and records, and eyestrain from working with computers and other office equipment.
  • This position requires travel within the County in search of affordable units, and meetings with landlords.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for up to eight hours at a time while performing work duties.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, push, and pull in the performance of office-related duties.
  • Must be able to use fingers bilaterally and unilaterally to operate office equipment.
  • Must have vision and hearing corrected to be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions in an environment that sometimes includes increased stress levels.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
