Job Title: Inside Sales Representative – Building Materials
Location: Yonkers, NY (On-site)
Position Overview
As an Inside Sales Representative, you will be the primary point of contact for walk-in, phone, and contractor customers. You will provide knowledgeable product recommendations, handle orders, maintain displays, and ensure each customer receives the highest level of service. This role requires strong communication skills, a friendly and professional demeanor, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist retail, contractor, and industrial customers in-store and by phone.
- Provide detailed product information, pricing, and recommendations to meet customer needs.
- Identify opportunities to upsell or suggest related products to increase sales.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of building materials, usage, and industry trends.
- Process sales transactions, refunds, and credit memos in accordance with company procedures.
- Handle and resolve minor customer complaints professionally.
- Maintain assigned stock areas, product displays, and store cleanliness.
- Assist colleagues and supervisors with special projects or additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in retail or contractor building material sales (preferred).
- Proven experience in inside or outside sales and cold calling.
- Strong math skills and ability to read orders, follow instructions, and complete paperwork accurately.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good telephone etiquette and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use safe lifting techniques for moving materials.
Schedule
- Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts
- Travel: Up to 75% within the local region
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $47,791.77 - $55,000.00 per year
