We are seeking an experienced and motivated Fiber Blowing Supervisor to oversee and manage fiber optic cable blowing operations on various telecom infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will ensure that fiber installation is performed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality, while maintaining timelines and supervising a team of technicians.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily fiber blowing operations and teams on-site.
- Ensure proper handling, installation, and blowing of fiber optic cables using specialized equipment (e.g., jetting/blowing machines).
- Inspect and prepare ducts and pathways prior to blowing operations.
- Monitor and maintain equipment performance and ensure timely maintenance.
- Ensure safety procedures and industry standards are followed rigorously.
- Troubleshoot issues during fiber installation and resolve them promptly.
- Report daily progress, challenges, and completed tasks to project management.
- Ensure accurate documentation of work performed, including as-built reports and test results.
- Coordinate with civil teams, subcontractors, and clients as necessary.
- Train and mentor team members in proper fiber blowing techniques and safety protocols.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in fiber optic cable blowing and installation.
- Prior supervisory or team lead experience in a telecommunications or utility setting.
- Strong understanding of fiber optic technologies, blowing techniques, and network infrastructure.
- Familiarity with equipment such as jetting machines (e.g., Plumettaz, Fremco, Condux).
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, duct layouts, and fiber schematics.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Physical fitness and willingness to work in varying field conditions.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to different job sites.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in fiber optics (e.g., FOA, ETA, or equivalent).
- Safety training certifications (e.g., OSHA, First Aid, Working at Heights).
- Experience with microduct and blown fiber systems (FTTH, backbone networks).
- (Spanish-Speaking is a plus)
Working Conditions:
- Field-based role requiring on-site supervision across multiple locations.
- May involve extended hours, weekends, and travel depending on project demands.
