Pay Rate: Starting at $17.00 per hour
Hours: Weekday mornings and middays; additional hours available on weekends and evenings
JOB SUMMARY
The Lead lifeguard is responsible for performing the duties as outlined in this analysis. The lifeguard is a part time employee working from 3-30 hours per week. Work primarily takes place on weekdays between 6am-12pm. The Lead lifeguard may be a year-round or a seasonal employee. Work is performed at a self-controlled pace but may vary depending on the demands of the job required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Maintain 10/20 scanning of zones of the pool area to ensure patrons safety and supervision at all times.
- Perform rescues and/or CPR with a high level of skill mastery.
- Attend 4 hours of in-service training per month to maintain certification requirements and improve upon all lifeguarding skills.
- Attend all required trainings
- Inspect lifeguard equipment to ensure it is in good working order.
- Serve as lead responder of emergency action plans during shift (dependent upon staff rotation).
- Serve as lead role in customer service duties (internal and external).
- Assist with facility supervision and management
- Cleaning/maintenance of aquatic facilities.
- Enforce safety rules at aquatic facilities.
- Performs the job safely and in compliance with Park District policies, procedures, work and safety rules.
- Be familiar with the safe operation of any equipment necessary in accomplishing required tasks.
- Oversee and assist in emergency procedures and pool evacuations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Good knowledge of pertinent safety precautions.
- Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees.
- The Lifeguard must be certified by Jeff Ellis and Associates.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must have or be able to successfully complete CPR and First Aid certification.
Must be able to successfully complete all job-related trainings and prerequisites.
