Position Summary:
The Sanitation Lead is to assist supervisor in effectively meeting daily departmental goals/requirements. The Lead ensures coordination and execution of tasks and acts as liaison between Team Members and supervisors as far as communicating goals, ensuring team members have clear direction and tools needed to perform job safely and effectively
Job Description:
- COMPLETED LOCKOUT/TAGOUT AND CHEMICAL TRAINING REQUIRED within first week; must complete scissor lift and forklift training within first two weeks.
- Prepare work areas and teams for proper startup, shutdowns, and change overs to ensure all sanitation processes are being completed as required.
- Must complete required chemical training to understand requirements on dispensing and disposing of chemicals; must understand MSDS and all safety requirements for storage, use, and proper disposal of all chemicals used.
- Work with Team Members daily to provide guidance, direction, training, coaching, and tools necessary to complete required tasks in safe, effective, and efficient manner.
- Will lead department meetings and huddles to ensure team members are aware of expectations, informed of all safety/quality concerns or updates, HR news, issues with equipment, cleaning schedules, and other important communications effecting sanitation.
- Must perform daily inspections to ensure sanitation Team Members are following proper processes and that the sanitation of equipment and production areas meet or exceed quality and sanitation expectations.
- Must be required to assemble/disassemble equipment and machinery to effectively sanitize and/or inspect equipment
- Responsible for responding to sanitation requests from production supervisors and Team Members as needed.
- Must monitor production and sanitation equipment and immediately notify supervisor of any maintenance/repair concerns.
- Must effectively communicate any performance/behavioral, quality, safety, or other issues and concerns to supervisor/manager in timely manner.
- Will be primary contact for Team Members for all issues; expected to address all team members in professional manner.
- Must complete paperwork, schedules, reports and any other documentation in systems and/or on paper as required.
- Responsible for notifying Supervisor and/or QA of contamination concerns.
- Responsible for following company policies/procedures written or verbal.
- Must be able to perform the Sanitation Laborer Training Checklist job tasks within expected training period.
- Must be able to follow direction and stay on task with little to no supervision.
- Must be able to effectively communicate to colleagues and management.
- Troubleshooting and analytical skills preferred.
- Must be able to safely operate scissor lift, forklift, hand jack, and other industrial equipment.
- Must be able to read and understand the Sanitation SOP’s, manuals, and related documentation as written.
- Proficiency in reading and writing; ability to complete on-the-job paperwork and effectively communicate across all management levels
- Must be able to tolerate heights up to 70 ft off the ground and move objects of 100 lbs. using mechanical device.
- Must be able to work variable shifts of up to twelve (12) hour days including weekends and holidays.
- Performs all other tasks as assigned.
Physical Requirements: The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Must be willing and able to lift up to 50 lbs on a frequent basis.
- Must be willing and able to move heavy objects (100 lbs) with mechanical device
- The Team Member will stand, walk, bend, squat, stretch, climb, push, pull and reach as required in all areas
- The Team Member will be at heights up to 70 feet off the ground
- The Team Member will stand 8-10 hours on hard floors
- The Team Member will perform repetitive motions as required in many areas
- The Team Member will be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, and extreme weather conditions.
- The Team Member will be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, known allergens such as soy, wheat, and milk.
- The Team Member will be occasionally exposed to high precarious places; confined spaces, extreme cold; extreme heat and vibration.
- The Team Member will be regularly exposed to moving equipment and mechanical parts.
- The Team Member will work in an environment where the noise level is usually loud and requires hearing protection.
- The Team Member will consistently be walking/standing on concrete floors and exposed to wet/slippery surfaces for long/extended periods of time.
Requirements:
- 6+ Months of Lead experience required
- 6+ Months of machine operator experience required
Candidates who have previously worked for Tyson will have a minimum rehire waiting period of 365 days and are limited to 3 times of employment.
