Position Summary
Location: Lewiston Teen Center
Job Type: Part Time 30+ hours with benefits
BGCSM is seeking a highly motivated, energetic individual for the Teen Center Site Coordinator at our Lewiston, ME clubhouse. The Site Coordinator is responsible for the daily operations, supervision and success of the Club’s teen program. This position supports and engages middle and high school-aged members through structured programming, mentorship, and leadership development. The Site Coordinator will supervise members and create a fun, safe and positive community by maintaining routines, procedures, and behavior expectations. A successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, schedule and deliver age-appropriate programming in our key impact areas of Art, Leadership, Academics and Health & Wellness as assigned by the Senior Director of Program Management and/or Unit Director; Ensure youth voice and social justice themes are woven into curriculum.
- Establish specific Clubhouse program goals consistent with organizational goals, standards and outcomes.
- Lead Program Assistants, Volunteers and Community Partners on program delivery.
- Build positive relationships with members, encourage participation and foster a sense of belonging within the club community.
- Monitor member behavior and interactions, implementing appropriate strategies (learned in staff training) to promote positive conduct and conflict resolution.
- Work with Marketing and Communication Manager to promote and showcase programs to increase youth awareness, participation and retention in programs and activities.
- Communicate effectively with the Unit Director regarding participant progress and program needs.
- Collaborate with team members to evaluate program effectiveness and contribute ideas for improvement.
- Ensure program areas are safe; and that club equipment is in good working condition.
- Track program metrics for grant related reports, including TANF, as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in education, Social Work or other related field, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 2 years work experience at a Boys & Girls Club, school system or similar organization planning and supervising programs based on the developmental needs of young people.
- Strong understanding of youth development.
- Passion for developing and maintaining strong working relationships with preteens and teens.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated technology and organizational skills.
- Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.
- Flexibility to work varying hours and cover other areas of the club to cover call outs, special programs or other clubhouse events
- CPR and First Aid Certified or willingness to obtain.
- Valid Driver’s License, with an excellent driving record.
Work Environment including physical requirements:
- Office and educational/classroom environment
- Must be able to lift, carry, reach, bend, push or pull up to 20 pounds at times.
- Must be able to traverse facility and lead members to safety in an emergency.
- May be required to stand for at least 4 hours per day.
- Must be able to sit and engage in prolonged computer use of at least 4 hours per day.
- Ability to drive a 12-person passenger van
Compensation & Benefits:
- Starting at $20 per hour; commensurate with experience
- School Year M-F 10:30a-6p; Summer 8a-4p; 35 hours per week
