JOB SUMMARY
Under direct supervision, performs semi-skilled labor or work requiring heavy manual effort in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater plant and/or related facilities, grounds and equipment; and perform related work as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Participate in the work of crews engaged in the operation and maintenance of the wastewater plant and related facilities.
- Assist in the repair and upkeep of the interior and exterior of plant buildings and grounds.
- Assist operators with general duties including hosing of tanks, equipment, walks, drives, etc.
- Take readings and record same.
- Disassembles flights and installs wear shoes.
- Assist maintenance personnel in basic repairs as required.
- Assist in cleaning and custodial duties as needed.
- Observe safe work practices.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
- Candidate must possess a High school diploma or it’s GED Equivalent, trade, or technical school graduate.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Candidate must possess knowledge of the methods, materials and tools in general maintenance work.
- Candidate must possess ability to use a variety of small hand and power tools. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to perform strenuous manual work under varying weather conditions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- While performing the duties of the position, the candidate must possess the ability to comply with safety standard to not have facial hair that would impede proper seal of breathing apparatus (self-contained breathing apparatus - S.C.B.A.). Must pass substance abuse screening(s). While performing the duties of the position the candidate may be exposed to usual noise associated with equipment and plant environment. May be exposed to noises associated with traffic and two-way radios. May be exposed to odors from laboratory field samples. May be exposed to atmospheric conditions such as heat, cold, dust, fumes, vapors, or mists.
