Position Summary
The Manager of Revenue Cycle Services is responsible for the direct oversight of the Accounts Receivable (AR) team, including specialized units such as Credit Balance, Over/Underpayment, and Correspondence. This role manages team performance, workflow, training, and quality assurance in partnership with the Supervisor of RCM. The AR Manager will work collaboratively with RCM leadership to improve collections, resolve payer issues, and support strategic initiatives to enhance revenue cycle performance and reduce cost per case.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Staff Development:
- Lead hiring, onboarding, and training of AR staff and supervisors.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations using key metrics (productivity, accuracy, attendance, quality).
- Monitor staff time and attendance via WorkDay; manage PTO, absences, and tardiness.
- Approve overtime and adjustments within departmental budget.
- Promote a positive team environment that encourages collaboration and recognition.
- Support low staff attrition through proactive engagement and communication.
Operational Oversight:
- Supervise daily AR processes to ensure timely follow-up and efficient collections.
- Review and approve account adjustments and workflow escalations.
- Maintain compliance with applicable collection laws, payer contract terms, and appeals processes.
- Leverage Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools to track, analyze, and report AR performance.
- Create and maintain clear documentation of processes, performance trends, and improvement plans.
Denials & Issue Resolution:
- Identify payer denial and underpayment trends; develop and implement improvement plans.
- Work with payers to resolve issues and build cooperative relationships.
- Analyze payer aging reports to identify root causes and reduce outstanding balances.
- Utilize reporting tools to track A/R metrics and performance outcomes.
- Prepare summaries, presentations, and reports using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for leadership review.
Cross-Department Collaboration:
- Partner with the Supervisor of RCM and Director of RCM Education to align on staff development and training needs.
- Collaborate with other RCM departments, and leadership to share best practices and ensure process efficiency.
- Participate in regular leadership meetings to support strategic goals and continuous improvement.
- Lead monthly team meetings to communicate priorities, updates, and progress.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Revenue Cycle Management
- 1–3 years of supervisory or management experience
- Strong knowledge of denial management, payer communication, and collections processes
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis), Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist – Physician-based) certification
