Speaks the Cherokee language with all employees of the Master-Apprentice Cherokee Language Program in a Cherokee language immersive setting. Works with advanced Cherokee language speakers to improve their ability to express abstract concepts in the Cherokee language.
Job Duties:Speaks the Cherokee language to both the Master-Apprentice Cherokee Language program staff and Apprentices to assist all program participants in gaining the contact hours necessary to increase Cherokee language fluency. Assists with the creation of new Cherokee language materials to improve the Cherokee language skills of Apprentices. Assists as needed to improve the development of curriculum designed to ensure successful Master-Apprentice teams. Advises Master-Apprentice language staff on assessment of Cherokee language skills; including designing tests and other assessment tools. Assists in the compilation of information, data, and analysis to identify any opportunities for improvement of Cherokee language acquisition. Uses mastery of the language to assist Apprentices in understanding Cherokee culture and philosophy in the context of the Cherokee language. Provides direction as necessary to improve and retain Master-Apprentice staff. Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
Associate's degree from a 2-year college or technical school; or two years (60 credit hours) coursework from 4-year College or university; or three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
An additional two (2) years of experience in an agency or cultural organization or a related field.
COMPUTER SKILLS
An individual should know about Accounting, Database, Internet, Inventory, Project Management, Spreadsheet, and Word Processing software; and Contact Management, Human Resource, and Payroll systems.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be able to demonstrate complete mastery of the Cherokee language, including a complete understanding of spoken Cherokee, and writing the Cherokee language in the Cherokee syllabary.

The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
Depending on work location, may need to meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.
