Sante Health System is seeking an exceptional Medical Assistant to join our team in Fresno, CA at one of our busy medical sites, Valley Sleep and Wellness Center (VSWC). This position is responsible for supporting and monitoring patient flow in back office and the delivering of primary health care and patient care management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma/GED equivalent required.
- Graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants required.
- Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants preferred.
- Bi-lingual Spanish preferred.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of medical practice and care to assist in giving patient care.
- Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
- Skill in assisting in a variety of treatments and medications as directed.
- Skill in taking vital signs.
- Skill in maintaining records and recording test results.
- Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
- Ability to maintain quality control standards including, but not limited to confidentiality.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare patients for examination and treatment. Take patient's vital signs.
- Prepare exam rooms with necessary instruments and supplies.
- Prepare and maintain supply and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.
- Assist physicians in preparing for office procedures and giving injections.
- Follow physician's order for treatment as requested for each patient.
- Draw appropriate medications for injections per physician orders.
- May assist in submitting pharmacy requests as ordered by physician.
- Maintain appropriate supply inventory and submit request for supplies to back office lead as needed.
- Submit authorizations and orders to appropriate facilities as needed and ordered by physician for patient continuation of care.
- Maintain patient files, records and other information.
- Attend required meetings and participates in professional development activities.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Follow all MA competencies.
- Back-up to front office duties as needed.
