Job Description:
The Service Line Medical Director for Pulmonary and Critical Care in the Peaks Region will provide physician leadership within the Intermountain Acute Care Service Line. This role is tasked with aiding in the development, establishment, and dissemination of clinical best practices related to quality, safety, patient experience, access, and stewardship in Pulmonary and Critical Care. The Medical Director is also accountable for fostering successful collaboration to implement these standards.The Medical Director is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and support of the Intermountain Peaks Region, Acute Care Service Line’s strategic direction. This position reports directly to the Senior Medical Director of Acute Care Services.
Service Line Medical Director for Pulmonary and Critical Care involves collaborating with the regional Medical Director(s), Site Leads, and Peaks Region Senior Leadership. The Medical Director will also collaborate with Enterprise Clinical Programs, and their counterparts in other regions. This position will work in partnership with operational, nursing, and clinical leadership to achieve shared goals.
Essential Functions
- Demonstrates leadership and credibility that earns the trust and respect of the caregiver community.
- Collaborates with physician, APP, nursing, and operations leaders to advance Intermountain Health’s Acute Care/Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Service Line capabilities in each fundamental of extraordinary care: Safety/Quality, Patient Experience, Access, and Stewardship.
- Supports the development and implementation of Quality Improvement initiatives.
- Assists in the development and implementation of Acute Care Service Line and Intermountain initiatives that are primary care and acute care based.
- Provides support for the Medical Group's participation in At Risk contracting/Risk based contracting.

Physical Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or DO degree and current board certification in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary, and Critical Care.
- Current Medical licensure in Colorado and/or Montana.
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
- Extensive medical practice experience.
- Excellent leadership skills.
- Sound understanding of modern health care economics and knowledge of financial principles.
- Demonstrated commitment to the fundamentals of extraordinary care; safety, quality, patient experience, access, and stewardship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Successful medical leadership experience.
- Multi-specialty group/clinic experience.
- Managed care knowledge and experience.
- Experience in the management of clinicians and administrative resources.
- Development and implementation of clinical and business quality improvement initiatives.
- Knowledge of sophisticated clinical and management information systems.
Physical Requirements
