Job Description: Job Summary
Responsible to the Senior Manager Flight Simulation Maintenance & Engineering for the day to day Flight Simulation Equipment and Ground Training Equipment maintenance operations that ensure training equipment continued reliability, quality assurance, and quality control. Responsible for fulfilling the 14 CFR Part 60 responsibilities and coordinating NSP events.

Responsibilities
Establish and maintain adequate manpower staffing to the various work shifts. Assign tasks to appropriately qualified personnel that will ensure that each Flight Simulation Training Device and Ground Training Equipment shall meet and maintain all regulatory and guidance material requirements
Communicate and coordinate with the FAA NSP on all regulatory topics in accordance with the FAA Simulator Quality Management System requirements and with the Southwest Airlines Simulator Quality Maintenance Program
Maintain the Simulator Quality Maintenance Program and assure current practices are correctly reflected
Assign and schedule the necessary Technician and Pilot QA Team members for acceptance testing and evaluation duties
Assign Lead roles as necessary which oversee shift personnel and Lead roles for specific areas of expertise
Develop and promote standardized practices and policies related to all aspects of the technical work, especially as relates to equipment preflight, preventative maintenance, inspection, testing, documentation, and quality assurance
Establish and ensure the development of methods and procedures for maintaining formal software and hardware configuration control
Recommend adequate and appropriate spares holding and stock levels, staff training, and equipment upgrades/modifications
Assist with any technical work required in order to maintain the orderly, timely, and efficient operation of the training equipment
Ensure that all Flight Simulation Training Devices maintain compliance with 14 CFR Part 60, the FAA approved Southwest Airlines Simulation Quality Management Program, and/or appropriate regulatory guidance
Maintain liaison with appropriate equipment/parts vendors. Set up and promote administrative procedures for the efficient procurement and stocking of supplies, spares, and parts to support preventative and unplanned maintenance
Monitor trends in simulation training delivery and related regulatory guidance materials
Actively participate in associated internal and external committees and work groups
May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders

Possess an extensive knowledge of flight simulation equipment and their maintenance and regulatory requirements

Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)
Fully functioning, broad knowledge in:
Working as a Simulation Technician, Simulation Engineer or related field
Regulatory requirements related to the use and qualification of Flight Simulation Training Devices
Jet transport operations and aircraft systems
Licensing/Certification
Required: A valid passport allowing travel across US borders
Physical Abilities
Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Ability to view a displayed image and accurately determine color, discern small details, and determine focus
Ability to climb ladders for access to maintainable flight simulator components
Able to lift at least 35 pounds from the floor to a waist high level
Other Qualifications
Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be able to travel internationally
Must be able to work extended hours as needed
Pay & Benefits:
Competitive market salary from $134,750 per year to $149,700 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
