Description: St. Patrick Catholic School is currently accepting applications for a full time 6-8th grade certified teacher. This position is for three hours of math and three hours of religion for grades 6-8 for the 2025-2026 school year. The position is posted for full-time but could become two half-time positions.
Demographics: Portland, Michigan, is a small city with a population of approximately 3,800 residents, with growing diversity in age and socioeconomic backgrounds. St. Patrick Parish serves this community as a Roman Catholic congregation, offering spiritual support primarily to local families and individuals. St. Patrick Catholic School, affiliated with the parish, provides faith-based education to students from daycare through twelfth grade, reflecting the parish’s commitment to academic excellence and moral development within a community setting.

Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver instructional experiences that support student learning and individual academic growth
- Ensure curriculum aligns with diocesan guidelines, preparing students for sacrament and deepening their faith
- Integrate Catholic values into all aspects of classroom life
- Incorporate innovative strategies and collaborate with colleagues to enhance learning outcomes
- Assess student learning and provide timely feedback and accurate records of student progress
- Build relationships with parents to enhance student achievement, including regular communication
- Participate in school masses, retreats, and service opportunities
Required Qualifications:
- The candidate must be a practicing Catholic living in accordance with the Magisterium of the Catholic Church with verification from a parish
- Proficient in oral and written communication
- Expert in multitasking and problem solving
- Current valid State of Michigan Teacher Certificate in Mathematics
- Virtus Trained or willing to become Virtus Trained
- Ability to establish positive working relationships with teachers, parents, and administrators through professional communication
- Knowledge and consistent application of the legal and ethical practices of education
- Thorough knowledge and application of the principles and methodologies of effective teaching for middle school aged students
