As part of MP&L, North American Vehicle Logistics (NAVL) is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of Ford and Lincoln vehicles from our assembly plants to dealers in North America. The Freight Payment and Network Planning Analyst will have responsibilities that are tied to ensuring continuous support of payments to all carriers across NAVL's carrier base (Rail, Carhaul, RoRo/Ocean, Port Processing, Yard Management), in tandem with working on solutions to continuously improve the transportation network. This position will work hand in hand with Vehicle Logistics Operations, Purchasing, IT and Finance, to drive problem solving on payment and system related issues to ensure timely solutions are implemented. Additionally, this position will support Network Planning functions (network optimization, contract management, strategy development), to drive improvements in our base Vehicle Logistics business.
What you'll do...
- Investigate and resolve billing and payment issues across rail, Carhaul, ocean, port processing, and yard management carrier bases
- Reconcile carrier payments to contracts, routes, and key initiatives, while consolidating key data and monthly accruals, to support month end close.
- Lead key initiatives with operations and commercial teams, to address process gaps where payment and financials are adversely impacted.
- Develop, monitor and control business processes surrounding unique payment situations across all Ford vehicle logistics activities
- Produce financial reports/dashboards linking NAVL KPIs to financial deliverables
- Partner with Finance, Transportation Purchasing, IT, and Vehicle Logistics Operations to ensure accurate costing, timely payment, and reliable data flows.
- Design and optimize vehicle delivery routes across North America to balance cost, speed, capacity, and reliability.
- Negotiate and manage carrier contracts (multi‑year agreements, temporary capacity, plant handling for unionized/non‑unionized carriers).
- Develop transportation methods and processes for specialty vehicles (BEV, performance, low‑volume).
- Create, support, and execute long‑term network strategy and identify cost/speed/performance improvement opportunities.
- Maintain strong carrier/supplier relationships and support Transportation Purchasing in onboarding and performance management.
You'll have...
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 3+ years experience in Logistics and/or payment fields
Even better, you may have...
- Material Planning and Logistics experience
- Experience working with railroads, car-haul carriers, and compound operators
- Ability to lead cross-functional groups, internally and externally, to resolve concerns
- Strong data analytical skills, to drive decision making, and Data Analytics experience including Alteryx, Tableau, and Power BI.
- Ability to effectively manage projects under rigid time constraints.
- Capability to operate independently and make decisions with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SAP Business Objects
- Occasional travel required to support areas of responsibility.
- Strong written and oral communication skills: to speak with or present to Ford leadership and to represent Ford, while engaging with 3rd party suppliers
- Ability to handle complex issues and multi-tasking
- Strong organizational skills
