Nature-Based Preschool Teacher

Position Overview
We are seeking a Nature-Based Preschool Teacher who will design and implement a daily curriculum rooted in exploration, discovery, and respect for the environment. The ideal candidate has knowledge of animals, gardening, and plants, and can weave these elements into engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons. This role requires both structure and creativity, ensuring children build strong foundations in academics, social-emotional growth, and environmental stewardship.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and implement daily curriculum activities aligned with early childhood standards and nature-based learning.
- Foster curiosity and hands-on exploration through outdoor play, gardening, animal studies, and seasonal projects.
- Incorporate literacy, math, science, and art into nature-inspired lessons.
- Supervise and guide children in both indoor and outdoor environments with patience and enthusiasm.
- Model and teach respect for nature, responsibility, and kindness toward living things.
- Maintain a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, classroom activities, and upcoming events.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to ensure consistency in curriculum and care.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (preferred) or related field.
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential a strong plus.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience working with preschool-aged children.
- Experience with Montessori, Waldorf, or Reggio Emilia approaches is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of gardening, plants, animals, and outdoor learning.
- Comfortable implementing structured curriculum daily while allowing for child-led exploration.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to be outdoors for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs as part of daily classroom and outdoor duties.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $11.00 - $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
