Performs intermediate to advanced ophthalmic photography and imaging procedures independently.
Responsibilities:
- Independently performs ophthalmic photography testing including anterior and posterior OCT imaging, standard fundus photography, ultra-wide field fundus imaging, FAF and red-free fundus photography, fluorescein angiography and ICG testing
- Performs advanced slit lamp photography, anterior segment FA, and gonioscopy.
- Assists junior ophthalmic photographers in the refinement of testing skill and image acquisition.
- Obtains all needed clinical study certification, completes and accurately submits clinic study images.
- Accurately differentiates advanced level ocular pathology and disease processes.
- Evaluates physician orders and follows appropriate protocols for examinations.
- Maintains equipment and imaging database integrity, and complies with all safety precautions.
- Demonstrates positive, concerned and sensitive responses in the work environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree
Certifications:
- OCT-C (Optical Coherence Tomography-Certified) required within one year of hire or promotion date, CRA (Certified Retinal Angiographer) highly preferred.
Complexity of Work:
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Work Experience:
- Eight years' experience as a full time Ophthalmic Photographer.
- Ten years’ experience as a full time Ophthalmic Photographer may offset the degree requirement.
Physical Requirements:
- Manual dexterity and strength sufficient to operate medical equipment utilized to perform testing procedures, perform exams and hold equipment.
- Good eye-hand coordination.
- May require long periods of standing and walking.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Lab coat, gloves, and face mask when applicable.
