Performs intermediate to advanced ophthalmic photography and imaging procedures independently.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently performs ophthalmic photography testing including anterior and posterior OCT imaging, standard fundus photography, ultra-wide field fundus imaging, FAF and red-free fundus photography, fluorescein angiography and ICG testing
  • Performs advanced slit lamp photography, anterior segment FA, and gonioscopy.
  • Assists junior ophthalmic photographers in the refinement of testing skill and image acquisition.
  • Obtains all needed clinical study certification, completes and accurately submits clinic study images.
  • Accurately differentiates advanced level ocular pathology and disease processes.
  • Evaluates physician orders and follows appropriate protocols for examinations.
  • Maintains equipment and imaging database integrity, and complies with all safety precautions.
  • Demonstrates positive, concerned and sensitive responses in the work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree

Certifications:

  • OCT-C (Optical Coherence Tomography-Certified) required within one year of hire or promotion date, CRA (Certified Retinal Angiographer) highly preferred.

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience:

  • Eight years' experience as a full time Ophthalmic Photographer.
  • Ten years’ experience as a full time Ophthalmic Photographer may offset the degree requirement.

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity and strength sufficient to operate medical equipment utilized to perform testing procedures, perform exams and hold equipment.
  • Good eye-hand coordination.
  • May require long periods of standing and walking.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Lab coat, gloves, and face mask when applicable.
