JOB TITLE: Overnight Behavioral Health Technician
LOCATION: Freedom Recovery
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time or Part-Time
SCHEDULE: 3rd Shift / Overnight Hours (e.g., 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
REPORTS TO: Director of Housing
POSITION SUMMARY
The Overnight Behavioral Health Technician provides overnight coverage and supervision for residents in a sober living environment. This role does not require formal behavioral health credentials but demands strong observational skills, dependability, and compassion. The technician ensures safety, documents activity, and supports a recovery-focused structure while residents sleep.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Nightly Oversight & Safety
- Conduct hourly walkthroughs to ensure safety and compliance
- Monitor curfew and movement throughout the facility
- Maintain a quiet and calm environment suitable for recovery
Documentation & Communication
- Complete detailed shift reports and log resident activity
- Note any concerns, incidents, or maintenance needs for morning staff
- Communicate professionally with leadership and day team
Facility Monitoring
- Ensure common areas remain clean and organized
- Identify facility maintenance issues or unusual behavior
- Prepare for morning routines or transportation transitions
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- Experience in residential, shelter, or recovery settings preferred
- Reliable, observant, and able to remain alert throughout overnight shift
- Strong written communication and accountability
- CPR/First Aid certified or willing to complete training
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Overnight shifts may include weekends and holidays
- Trauma-informed care environment with structured routines
- On-call support from Director or House Manager team
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to conduct facility rounds and respond to incidents
- May assist residents with mobility or emergency situations
